DEVLOG #7 — MVP v2 & NEXT STEPS

With Release 1.8.0 live, Sporelight’s core pillars—combat, navigation, equipment, shops, and scavenging—are now in players’ hands. This marks our second MVP milestone. Our focus now shifts to planning the next layer of features that will expand immersion, player expression, and competition.

⚙️ Upcoming Equipment Overview & Stat Totals

Right now, the backpack view lists your items one by one, whether equipped or not.

In a future update, we’ll introduce a dedicated Equipment Overview that:

  • Shows total attribute bonuses (Charisma, Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence, Endurance, Adaptivity) in one place.
  • Groups all currently equipped gear by slot for quick scanning.
  • Displays aggregate modifiers from weapons, armor, accessories, and temporary effects.
  • Allows before/after stat comparisons when previewing swaps in shops or inventory.

This will make it easier to see at a glance how your loadout shapes your strengths, without digging through each item’s details.

🎨 Immersion Polish

Plans include adding:

  • Sound effects to bring more weight to combat, navigation, and UI actions.

  • Subtle GFX enhancements to improve clarity without losing the grounded tone.

  • Visual cues that make feedback during play more responsive and satisfying.

🏆 Expanded Ranking Types

Future leaderboards will highlight different playstyles, starting with:

  • Highest Area Level Reached – Celebrating those who push deepest into dangerous zones.

  • Additional ranking categories as mission and encounter variety expands.

📝 Roleplay Messaging System

A new location-based messaging mechanic will allow players to:

  • Leave a 140-character message at any location.

  • Optionally attach an item.

  • Assign an attribute they feel fits the message.

  • Mark it as Truth or Lie.

  • Earn bonuses from votes.

Other players will be able to:

  • Find the message and item.

  • Guess truth or lie.

  • Vote

  • Earn bonuses or penalties based on their guess.

Scoring details are still being worked out, but the goal is to make these messages a unique blend of risk, reward, and storytelling.
